ServeHappy Jobs wins Seedstars Manila
A niche platform targetting the hospitality industry, ServeHappy Jobs, won the Philippines round of Seedstars World over the weekend.
“The Philippines is known to be the most hospitable country in the world and wouldn’t it be great if we are really able to showcase that? By leveraging on social media, our technology can now connect everybody in the hospitality recruitment space,” said Audrey Tanco Uy of ServeHappy Jobs.
The team will now be off to compete in the global competition in Switzerland next April.
Debt-based crowdfunding platform New Union expands to Philippines
A Singaporean startup that allows SME business owners to raise cash through debt-financing announced today it has expanded into the Philippines. The island nation will be its fifth market after Cambodia, China, Singapore and Taiwan.
The company allows people to crowdfund short-term financing while investors, on average, get an annualised return of about 7 per cent. New Union says it has helped SMEs raise US$1.6 billion to date.
Freeware Spaces opens 2,400 sq. metre space in upscale Jakarta neighbourhood
Freeware Spaces Group, a Indonesian co-working company with 4 offices, announced today the launch of Freeware Suites Equity 18 in the Sudirman Central Business District. While it will be opening in stages, the full 2,400 sq. metre space should be completed in the next six months.

Shared dests will start at IDR1,950,000 (US$145) per person per month. Private rooms cost IDR11,200,000 (US$835) a month and meetings space is IDR250,000 (US$18) an hour.
Impact Hub becomes Southeast Asia’s first tech hub partner for Google for Entrepreneurs
Members of the Singaporean Co-working space Impact Hub will now be able to enjoy the Google for Entrepreneurs global network that includes 135 countries and dozens of co-working spaces. The platform should help give Impact Hub startups some direction as they seek to make connections and partnerships. Ideally, those connections will hopefully grow into deals.
“Google for Entrepreneurs is all about providing the best of Google’s resources to our global partner network. We can’t wait to collaborate with Impact Hub Singapore’s members,” said Bradley Horowitz the VP of Product Management at Google.
India startup that digitalises car shop management raises US$3 million
A Hyderabad-based startup named Smart Auto Systems, has raised A US$3 million Series A round from Japan’s Mitsui & Co. The company’s core product is called AutoRox and it helps car repair shops manage the backend of their companies.

The company will use the money to improve its technology, and expand across India, according to the Economic Times.
