Whizpace claims it can deliver internet speed up to 10 times faster than conventional Wi-Fi

Singapore-based startup Whizpace has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from the Javelin Startup-O Victory Fund, a Singapore-managed seed capital fund. The company also previously received investments from Spring Seeds Capital and GreenMeadows Accelerator.

Launched in 2016 by ex-researchers from A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (PR), Whizpace develops TV White Space (TVWS) solutions, which provide faster internet connections than conventional Wi-Fi frameworks.

Essentially, TVWS solutions– a.k.a Super Wi-Fi — uses unused radio frequencies in TV broadcast bands to deliver data services. According to Whizpace, the range of TVWS connections can go up to 10 times further than Wi-Fi, and has better wall penetration. Their deployment cost is also lower than Wi-Fi.

The common use cases for TVWS solutions are smart grid networks, maritime communication networks, wireless video surveillance networks, private networks, rural Internet networks, and cellular range extensions.

To date, Whizpace has helped deliver TVWS solutions to five countries in APAC and Africa.
