Gilles Blanchard is also the chairman of a real estate portal based in Dubai, and another in Pakistan
Myanmar-based property portal ShweProperty.com has raised funding from Gilles Blanchard, the co-founder of French property site Seloger.com. The financing amount was undisclosed.
The funding comes off the back of its Series A round in February this year, which ShweProperty said will be used to strengthen its position in the Myanmar market through increased sales and marketing efforts and partnerships with property developers.
Blanchard joins the ShweProperty team as both a shareholder and active advisor. He exited Seloger in 2011 via a US$846 million sale to German media conglomerate Axel Springer, which owns Business Insider, and recently invested in Uber.
The French real-estate entrepreneur is also Chairman of Pakistan-based property portal Zameen.com and Dubai-based property site Bayut.com. Additionally, he is involved with BProperty.com – a real estate e-commerce site in Bangladesh.
“Gilles has a fantastic track record and deep understanding of the property portal business, particularly in emerging markets. This combined with our strong local management team, experienced shareholder base, and years of business experience – will help us to achieve our vision to lead and shape Myanmar’s Real Estate industry,” said ShweProperty CEO Justin Sway.

Founded in 2011, ShweProperty is led by CEO Sway; Managing Director – Kevin Goos; and Founder and Director, Kaung Thu Win. It connects buyers, sellers and renters, and works with real estate developers and agents. To date, ShweProperty has over 100,000 property listings in its database.
Besides managing ShweProperty, Sway is also co-founder of Myanmar-based jobs portal JobNet, which raised an undisclosed 7-figure funding in a Series A round last month.
