“We are thrilled to have such a prominent figure like Taizo Son and his Mistletoe team in the family. Knowing Taizo and his selective, discerning style, being his first partner in Southeast Asia bears testament to the strength and uniqueness of our proposition. With Taizo’s extensive experience in technology as well as strong global connections and perspectives, I am confident that together we can sharpen our focus on building a facilitative and curated ecosystem that will help individuals and businesses succeed,” said CEO and Founder of Golden Equator Shirley Crystal Chua in a press statement.
In September, Golden Equator launched a healthtech-focussed incubator in a joint venture with South Korean regulatory and clinical research provider C&R Healthcare Global (C&R), with the goal to help South Korean healthtech startups expand to Singapore and other Southeast Asian markets.
It is planning to launch curated business and technology club SPECTRUM in mid-January.
Son’s Mistletoe has been making several investments in the region; it has led a US$3.5 million funding for Hatcher+, a Singapore-based data-driven venture investment platform.
In a separate occasion, he had explained Mistletoe’s mission as ” to revolutionise the startup ecosystem, and make fundraising more transparent, and available to entrepreneurs.”
