Indonesian social-media-based payments app Netzme has launched its service on March 2, 2019, in the city of Pekalongan in Central Java. Unlike any other existing payments apps, the features and capabilities of Netzme are especially designed to facilitate small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and creative workers in monetising their products and services.

Following the grand launch, there are already several plans that the company aims to implement, one of them being an IPO. Netzme plans to start trading in the stock market in mid-2019; the company has also been registered as a fintech provider in Bank Indonesia in March 2018.

Feature updates for users

As its user base grows to reach two million users, Netzme continues to update its features. One of its top features include Truquiz, which enables users to create quizzes that followers (“Trufans”) can join in by gathering “likes” (“Trulikes”). The prizes are gathered from the users themselves and are being distributed automatically.

The platform’s social-media-like nature also continues to be its primary offering. What sets it apart from other social media platforms is that Trufans are able to appreciate a post with Trulikes -through this feature, in addition to gaining likes, content creators can also receive payments from their fans. Netzme users consist of business people, content creators, artists, musicians, and the general public.

The platform also strengthens its existing features such as chat-based transfers, wire transfers, PPOB vouchers sales, cash registry as well as QR code-based payments for SMEs. With the goal to provide financial inclusion in rural areas, Netzme puts highlight on its content strategy and community events.

Their content strategy is implemented through the launch of video web series in YouTube called “Kolaborasa.” Community events are also routinely held by working together with users. Examples of such events include the set-up of Kampung Digital Netzme and several SME festivals in West Java.
