The companies said CATALYST seeks to create new partnerships that deliver real health outcomes and impact businesses

Aardvark Labs and Padang & Co have joined forces to launch CATALYST Collaborative Workspace, a coworking space that seeks to support medical and health technology startups and clinician-innovators.

The opening ceremony of CATALYST co-working space was officiated by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation initiative. MoUs were signed between Aardvark Labs and SingHealth, National Healthcare Group (NHG), and National Health Innovation Centre (NHIC).

Under these MOUs, CATALYST pledges to foster “technology innovation in the healthcare space and creates new partnerships that deliver real health outcomes and meaningful business impact”.

CATALYST plans to bring together public and private-practice clinician-innovators, medtech, and healthtech startups to develop products and services that help prevent and cure diseases, in a scalable manner.

It is going to facilitate startups to interact with clinician-innovators and ecosystem partners to solve problems based on real unmet clinical needs. Clinicians, on the other hand, can learn about new technologies and connect with the entrepreneurial talent to shape the future of healthcare.

The aspiring startups will be given access to events, programmes, and partners to help accelerate their development.

CATALYST will be located within the Alumni Association building in Singapore, boasting 200 sq ft workspace close to Singapore General Hospital, Duke-NUS Medical School, and other healthcare institutions in Outram Park, as well as the National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

To date, more than 10 international and local startups have already established themselves at CATALYST, including AEvice Health, Biorithm, ConnectedLife, Crely Healthcare, eko.ai, Precision Medical, and Privi Medical.

Aardvark Labs was co-founded by three clinician-innovators: Dr Lai Kah Weng, Dr Rena Dharmawan, and Dr Ian Mathews.

Padang & Co is led by CEO Derrick Chiang to facilitate a connection between startups and organisations such as Unilever, MUFG, Rolls-Royce. It also aims to create new opportunities for innovation and has partnered with the likes of Unilever Foundry.
