Blanja is an Indonesian e-commerce platform backed by state-owned telco Telkom and e-commerce giant eBay
Indonesian e-commerce platform Blanja announced its rebranding and achieved milestones on an event on Wednesday.
The company, backed by state-owned telco Telkom and e-commerce giant eBay, introduced a new logo and new user interface that includes new features such as a channel to purchase products sold on eBay.
The rebranding was done in order to create greater awareness of the company’s brand across Indonesia.
According to a report by DailySocial, Blanja also plans to allocate 60 to 80 per cent of its annual budget to advertise on television, which remains a popular platform for local e-commerce platforms to introduce their service.
“Through this rebranding, we hope that Blanja will be able to expand its business as the market gets increasingly competitive. Two years ago, we did not maximise [our marketing efforts] as we were focussing on building a strong foundation. We also aim to be the top three or five e-commerce players in the upcoming years,” explained CEO Aulia E. Marinto.

In 2016, Blanja claimed that its transaction value has reached US$100 million, and the company aims to increase the number to US$150 million this year.
It also claimed to record 2,000 daily transactions with more than nine million visitors last year.
Incorporated in 2014, Blanja has also achieved several milestones such as its appointment as official e-commerce partner for small businesses under the Rumah Kreatif BUMN programme created by the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises. It has up to 118 state-owned enterprises on board to sell its products.
Blanja also houses about 500 million eBay products on its platform, as it has been seen as eBay’s way to enter the Indonesian market.
The company currently has 160 employees with 80 per cent of them being under 30 years old.
