Inside HUBBA

In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Amarit Charoenphan, former CEO of co-working space HUBBA in Thailand, announced that his brother Charle Charoenphan will take over the CEO position of the startup hub. The same sentiment was also expressed by Charle in a different post.

With his brother succeeding the CEO role, Amarit will take the role of Executive Chairman of the Board for the company. Prior to assuming the CEO role, Charle is the acting COO of the company.

Amarit also detailed that their journey together leading the company was dated three years back when Charle decided to take the position as Head of Accelerator in SCB Digital, essentially entrusted the direction of the company to Amarit.

In light of his comeback and new role, Charle said on his post that the focus of HUBBA will be about “bringing more technology into the heart of what we do to unlock Thailand’s great entrepreneurial potential.”

Amarit also noted a few successes he felt most proud of along his journey as CEO, which includes doubling HUBBA’s annual top line despite having no investment since 2015, scaling up of Techsauce Media’s Techsauce Global Summit event, and the partnership he scored with Google for Startups.

HUBBA was founded in June 2012, when Amarit saw that Thailand was missing a workspace that could support an entrepreneur, freelancers, and startups that was affordable and offered a “strong sense of community and friendship, lots of learning and sharing opportunities, and business services that are meant to help businesses to succeed.”

In October 2015, HUBBA raised a seed round from 500 Startups, Golden Gate Ventures, and Wavemaker Partners.
