Optimatic, the company behind Southeast Asian online resource platform for tech startups e27, has announced the signing of two memorandums of understanding (MOUs).

The first one was with AsiaIOA, a Taiwan-based service provider that bridges startup ecosystems in East Asia and Southeast Asia, followed by another with iCube Innovation, East Malaysia-based incubator innovation centre.

Both MOUs will work towards “fostering entrepreneurship spirit around the region.”

“The startup ecosystem and tech entrepreneurship in Asia have grown substantially over the past few years. The sector now needs to acquire a more nuanced understanding of their market potential to sustain growth prospects and to deepen collaboration to navigate the business and regulatory environment to evolve rapidly at the speed of demand. Both iCube Innovation and AsiaIO work towards adding greater value to the entrepreneurship ecosystem,” said Mohan Belani, Co-Founder and CEO of Optimatic.

iCube Innovation, East Malaysia’s incubator innovation centre, is aimed at Sarawak’s young entrepreneurs and designed to facilitate the creation and growth of entrepreneurs through collaboration and co-incubation.

Due to the state government’s efforts in building the startup ecosystem, places such as Sarawak is on its way to become an ideal location for entrepreneurs and startups alike.

“The partnership will help us drive a series of online knowledge-based workshops and webinars aimed at early stage startups, co-developed by both Optimatic and iCube Innovation,” said Dato Patrick C J Liew, Founder, and Chairman of iCube Innovation.

The other MOU signed was with AsiaIOA, which provides services for institutions of higher learning, corporate accelerators, and government innovation agencies in connecting startup ecosystems between East Asia and Southeast Asia.

Kevin Ho, Co-Founder, and CEO of AsiaIOA said, “Taiwan has a legacy in the hardware industry but we also have a vibrant startup ecosystem that is working on some really promising ideas. This opportunity helps us to expand into the local Southeast Asia startup ecosystem, explore collaborations, and exchange knowledge between East Asia and Southeast Asia startups and investors.”

These partnerships will, in turn, help Optimatic to increase their presence in the region. Both MOUs were signed at the recent Echelon Asia Summit 2019 in Singapore through DottedSign, an e-signing platform, provided by Kdan Mobile from Taiwan.
