Hyperloop is a new transportation technology that uses a pod through a near-vacuum tube to move objects and people from one place to the other
Elon Musk-backed Hyperloop Technologies is awaiting the government approval to run trails in India, according to multiple reports.
Once approved by the Ministry of Transport, the country will see its first hyperloop transport in the next four years, according to Bibop Gresta, Co-founder Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.
“The world is watching you guys (India). This can be the greatest opportunity or the biggest disaster. Only history will tell,” Gresta was quoted to have told FactorDaily.
Gresta has already met Prime Minster Narendra Modi and Union Transportation Minister Nitin Gadkari in this regard.
Hyperloop is a new transportation technology that uses a pod through a near-vacuum tube to move objects and people from one place to the other. It can move as fast as an airline. It utilises a combination of alternative energy, energy conservation systems and energy delivery.
The climate-controlled capsule travels inside a reinforced ‘tube’ pathway, making hyperloop weather-independent. The system is also earthquake-safe.
According to Gresta’s LinkedIn profile, the operational costs of hyperloop are much lower than any existing (and yet proposed) railway projects. Hyperloop can utilise existing infrastructure, and can reduce land acquisition costs.
