Indonesia Flight is a sister company of fellow Indonesian OTA Tiket.com, which Blibli had acquired in June
Indonesian e-commerce company Blibli has acquired online travel agency (OTA) Indonesia Flight, according to a Tech in Asia Indonesia report.
Indonesia Flight is a sister company of fellow Indonesian OTA Tiket.com, which Blibli had also acquired for an undisclosed sum in June.
Both companies shared an unnamed angel investor. The report stated that when Tiket.com’s acquisition was finalised, the investor had also released his stakes at Indonesia Flight.
e27 has reached out to both Blibli and Indonesia Flight to find out more details of the acquisition.
Founded by Marcella Einsteins and Yoppy Nelwanto in 2012, Indonesia Flight was one of the earliest OTA service available in the Indonesian market. It was also one of the first OTA to be available as a mobile app in the country.

In a press statement released by the company in April, it claimed to have secured “over” one million users and sold more than eight million flight tickets, recording close to IDR50 billion (US$3.7 million) in gross revenue.
In addition to airplane tickets, the platform also offers tickets for railway services.
OTA remains a hot sector in the Indonesian tech industry in 2017. Traveloka, one of the country’s first four unicorn startups, secured its unicorn status through a US$350 million funding round by Expedia. Traveloka had also raised US$500 million in two funding rounds from East Ventures, Hillhouse Capital Group, JD, and Sequoia Capital.
Chinese e-commerce giant JD has also introduced an airplane ticket booking feature in its Indonesian presence JD.id, as a follow-up of its investment in Traveloka.
