Go-Ventures joined Sequoia India and Times Internet in investing into India-based Mobile Premier League (MPL)

Indian e-sport startup Mobile Premier League (MPL) has raised a US$35.5 million funding from Sequoia India, Times Internet, and Go-Jek’s investment arm, Go-Ventures, as reported by The Economic Times. Joining the round are RTP Global, Beenext, Base Growth, and Venture Highway.

MPL was founded early in 2018 and to date has secured a total of US$40.5 million in funding, with its Series A funding round announced in November last year led by Sequoia Capital, which also backs Go-Jek.

MPL is a platform for mobile gamers, focussed on casual gaming genres like arcade, adventure games, or sports. The company said it has managed to have 25 million registered users across both Android and iOS.

So far, Go-Jek has acquired four Indian companies; Leftshift, Pianta, C42 Engineering, and CodeIgnition. This is the first publicly known investment through Go-Ventures.

Go-Jek has had a presence in India since 2016 with an engineering facility set up in Bangalore.
