The strategic collaboration will have GOJEK’s digital payment platform arm GO-PAY to further supports the Bandung Smart City Initiative by its government

Aligned with the company’s commitment in supporting home country Indonesia, GOJEK announced that it has officially partnered with Bandung in an MoU signing with the city government, the capital city of West Java province of Indonesia, along with its digital payment arm GO-PAY. The strategic partnership will be directed towards supporting the city and its citizen in their daily activities as well as the economy of the city.

The specifics of the collaboration will also see GOJEK continues its SME improvement program through a variety of training and involvements in GOJEK’s ecosystem. The city will also integrate cashless GO-PAY transaction for public transportation, public services, and tourist activities in the city.

Furthermore, GOJEK will also recruit the graduates of Balai Latihan Kerja Bandung (the city’s employment training bureau) as the providers of GOJEK’s lifestyle services GO-LIFE, such as providers for GO-CLEAN, GO-MASSAGE, GO-AUTO, and GO-GLAM.

“GOJEK will support Bandung’s public transportation in facilitating the citizens to use Bandung Tour on Bus or Bandros with GO-PAY as the payment method for a more efficient cashless transaction with a transparent record,” said Damar Juniarto, VP Government Relations of GOJEK.

The cashless payment facility aims to increase the public’s interest towards the city’s tourism as well as overall trust in using public facilities. We believe this initiative, in turn, can bring more business for the city’s SMEs who had come a long way in embracing cashless payment with GO-PAY,” said Edwin Ariono, Head of Ecosystem Expansion of GO-PAY.

This partnership also marks GOJEK’s supports in the city’s government in its green initiative of recycling trash through a program called Kang Pisman.
