The participants of the second batch of gojek Xcelerate

Indonesian ride-hailing giant gojek has introduced the second batch of its accelerator programme gojek Xcelerate.

Set to run in four batches from September 2019 to March 2020, the second batch focusses on women-founded tech startups, as a follow-up the to the first batch which focusses on businesses in the machine learning vertical.

The programme is the result of a collaboration between gojek, Google Developers Launchpad, UBS, McKinsey & Co., and Digitaraya.

Simona Ventures, a venture capital firm that focusses on women-led and -founded businesses, also participated in the programme.

Selected out of 86 applicants, the 10 startups are set to participate in a range of programmes that include a bootcamp, mentoring session, demo day and pitch, as well as a networking session.

Having taken part in the bootcamp, which runs from October 28 to 31, the startups are set to participate in a demo day event on November 1 at gojek headquarter in South Jakarta.

In March 2020, there will also be a final demo day where the best startups from each batch get another chance to pitch and secure funding.

According to a written statement by Siti Astrid Kusumawardhani, VP of Public Affairs at gojek, the best startups could also potentially join the gojek platform.

The following is a list of those 10 startups:

1Export (the Philippines)
Founder(s): Mel Nava
Team members: 11

The startup wants to be an end-to-end solution for MSMEs wanting to enter new markets across the globe by providing service automation, order system for faster turnover, and supplier onboarding.

“We are currently working to make exporting faster and easier through tech. We are working on automating document processing and also the creation of invoices for both buyers and suppliers to keep track of their transactions. We are also planning to integrate AI with labelling compliances, to easily identify the labelling needs of a certain product, for a certain country.”

Populix (Indonesia)
Founder(s): Eileen Kamtawijoyo, Timothy Astandu
Team members: 10

The startup aims to ease research activities for businesses by providing a readily accessible pool of quality participants that they can segment and will answer questions instantly, objectively, and at lower costs.

“To ensure the data quality, we implement rigorous parameters in our platform for each of the steps in doing research: Study Design, Respondent Recruitment, and Study Taking.”

Jio Vio/Olive Wear (India)
Founder(s): Padmapriya Ravichandran, Senthilkumar, Dhinesh Pandian, Arundhati, Ramprabhar

The startup designs an IoT kit and wearable device that can monitor vital statistics in pregnant women, mothers, and infants at remote places.

“The innovation is unique in terms of providing information and collecting parameters digitally. It is a real-time health tracking concept which reduces the chances of data error by the person and also ensuring validation of the measurement done on a regular basis.”

Love and Flair (Indonesia)

The startup provides over 100 locally-made brands with over 3,000 on-trend apparel, footwear, accessory and beauty styles.

“Our competitive advantage is our deep knowledge in our market, technology and level of support that we provide to the businesses that we serve.”

Paynamics (the Philippines)

With the goal to provide greater access to payments, the startup implements deep integration approach and horizontal specialisation.

Event Banana (Thailand)
Founder(s): Nan Thongkraisaen, Eddy

The platform connects event organisers with venues to host their events in.

“We are the first and number one platform in Thailand with the highest traction and number of supply listings. We built AI-enabled search algorithm to bring the most relevant options to the users. The most core competency in our team is that we have a good blend of business acumen, operation design background and software development experience.”

PurelyB (Malaysia)

The startup builds an e-commerce platform for traditional and natural health products.

“We want to help inspire and guide more communities to live healthier lifestyles and contribute towards reducing the growth of health risks and issues affecting us all today by providing a holistic end-to-end experience catered to the needs of each person.”

Kobe (Singapore)
Founder(s): Evangeline Leong, Cha Lin
Team members: 21

The startup aims to open new market segments for consumer brands with their 5,000 relevant celebrity, macro, micro or everyday influencers reaching 45 million audiences. Their Artificial Intelligence tools in influencer marketing platform have achieved an international PCT patent.

“Within the first year, Kobe has crossed seven-digits in sales and has worked with over 200 brands including Pepsi, Changi Airport Group and Calvin Klein.”

Elevait (China/Hongkong)
Founder(s): Jessica Wen Felix

The startup aims to provide successful fitness training for everyone regardless of location, education or income.

“We see the body as a holistic system which needs a careful combination of the elements: Training, recovery, nutrition and sleep. All existing solutions look at this element separately. Think about going for a run and eat at McDonald’s afterwards –how can that be unrelated?! Making progress needs a careful combination of these elements and ELAVAIT is solving that.”

Pixylz Creative Private Limited (India)

The startup builds a mobile app that helps users print their photos and turn it into photo books, collages and mosaics more easily.

“We provide a platform to independent designers to showcase their designs on our platform and this gives our customers a wide variety of professional designs to choose from. The ease of accessing pictures from the phone, google drive or cloud and placing an order from the app is the key competitive advantage. Our immaculate customer service helps us retain users and ensure repeat orders.”
