Recruitment platform for blue collar and service industry jobs, FindWork, today announced that it has raised a collective US$2 million seed funding round since August 2017 from angel investor Bernard Chong.

Chong is known as investors of Southeast Asian tech startups such as ASI Studios and Synergy88 Digital in the Philippines.

Launched in February by co-founders Kevin Williams and Allen Tan, FindWork aims to “better connect” employers with blue collar and service industry job-seekers.

Currently operating in Indonesia and the Philippines, the startup claimed to have secured over 30,000 job-seekers and over 500 companies on board since its launch.

Claiming a “steady” 15 per cent week-on-week growth since its launch, FindWork named Orang Tua Group, Alfamart, and Burger King as its users in Indonesia and Starbucks, Fruitas, and Ministop as users in the Philippines.

The startup plans to use the funding to support user acquisition, talent acquisition (particularly for its tech team), and regional expansion, with Malaysia as its next destination.

Currently available as a mobile app for Android devices, FindWork offers features such as application tracking system, job offer social advertising algorithms, “fingerprint plus” (which tracks users’ journey from advertising engagement to job applications for key target audiences identification), and an in-platform messenger service (to prevent spam or fraud).

In a press statement, the startup described the blue collar and service industries as having high turnover rate.

It is facing a market of over 100 million workers in the region.

“There is unprecedented opportunity in the industry for change – with high turnover rates, many blue collar and service industry workers in the region need quick access to suitable jobs. This is where FindWork comes in to target this potential with technology that enables faster matching between job seekers and hiring companies,” said Williams.

“We want to alleviate pain points of the job application and recruitment process in an intelligent and intuitive manner to create value for the Southeast Asian community,” he added.
