Good product ideas are aplenty. But many fail to even move out of concept phase because of the lack of diligent market and product research. Good ideas need to be polished, refined, put through the fire of intense scrutiny in order for them to be moulded into rock solid business ideas.

Even when a decent minimum viable product (MVP) has been achieved, startups also face hurdles of getting it into the market and achieving high user growth rates through effective sales spending, and keeping burn rate to a sustainable level.

Singapore-based digital skills academy Lithan is launching a modular Pre-Accelerator Programme, comprising of four short courses to help would-be and current entrepreneurs get a good grasp of business fundamentals before jumping into the fray.

Here is how it plans to conduct their Pre-Accelerator programme.

1. Techstart Pre-Accelerator

This comprehensive business building course enables participants to pick up lean canvas methodologies — a.k.a the art of executing actionable business plan fast by laser focussing on the solutions, problems, key metrics and competitive advantages — go-to market strategies, as well as how to scale the business in a sustainable manner.

Techstart Pre-Accelerator also caters to participants focussing on different verticals, which changes according to trends and market demand. The current lineup consists of mobile apps, smart devices, Internet of Things (IOT), cloud as well as e-commerce.

At the end of the course, students would have their business idea validated and come up with their very own investor pitch deck.

Students will be taught how to leverage on key digital marketing channels, including content marketing, social media marketing and search engine marketing to boost brand awareness and generate leads and optimise their sales campaigns.

At the end of the course, they would have executed at least 2 digital marketing campaigns to get leads, and presented their optimised digital marketing strategy for their Business Idea, validated by mentors from digital marketing agencies.

With Takatack’s partnership, participants will also be able to leverage on the e-commerce platform’s inbound digital marketing efforts to increase visibility. Additionally, they will be taught how to build custom e-commerce sites, manage inventory, integrate popular payment gateways, and view all key metrics on one dashboard.

It is also open to people who want to learn how to develop effective sales techniques and become a fearless hustler.

The course will help participants to understand their target buyer persona(s) and their buying process, profile their target personas and frame their product’s unique value proposition for each persona via sales canvas, apply industry best practices to develop, assess and optimise their sales campaigns, as well as creating sales scripts to maximise sales conversion, referrals and improve revenue growth.

After launching of the participant’s startup with a validated business idea, optimised Digital Marketing and Sales strategy, the next step would be to scale and manage their startup properly, and that is where Agile Enterprise comes in. It is also suitable for management in larger corporations who want to create an agile organisational structure within their department/organisation.

Agile Enterprise aims to arm participants with the knowledge on how to develop a lean agile culture and adopt a suitable style of agile leadership within their startup. Participants would learn more about financial management, and drive agility in human resource, sales & marketing functions.

At the end of the course, students would have applied key concepts of Agile methodology to their Startup environment or organisation, developed and implemented a financial plan (budget & forecast), and created a validated Transformational Plan under the mentorship from Industry Experts.
