The Chinese ICT company will set up its OpenLab to offer tech services and to become an incubating hub in both India and Thailand

Huawei had announced the opening of its OpenLab in India with the focus on supporting Indian government rolls out its Smart Cities program and an overall digitization in the country using Huawei’s ICT capabilities. As reported by TechObserver.in, Huawei’s new center will function as an incubating hub for Huawei’s India and global market.

A total of US$23 million is going into both OpenLabs in India and Thailand for the next three years.

“The OpenLab Delhi is going to pave the way for a more rapid development of a new “Smart Nation” offering various type services to its citizens,” said Jay Chen, CEO, Huawei India.

The OpenLab Delhi plans to offer ICT training to nearly 400 personnel per year, provide ICT Career Certification to 250 engineers per year, and Proof of Concept Training to nearly 100 engineers annually.

There will be four functional centers in the OpenLab: Partner development center, solution joint innovation center, talent training, and certification center, and industry experience center.

The OpenLab Delhi is the 12th facility of Huawei’s Global OpenLab Program. It’s located at Huawei India’s Gurugram headquarters.

With more than 700 partners across Smart City, finance, transportation, energy, manufacturing, and media sectors, Huawei has set up its hardwares and software services as solutions concept of OpenLabs in cities like
Delhi (Gurgaon), Bangkok, Singapore, Munich, Paris, Dubai, Istanbul, Mexico City, Cairo, Johannesburg, Moscow, and Suzhou (China).

“Over the next three years, Huawei will invest $81 million in building OpenLabs, enabling cloud developers, and cultivating ICT talent in the Southeast Asia region,” said the company on its Developer Enablement Plan for the SEA region.
