Singapore-based co-working space Hub Singapore today announced the launch of The Mission Movement, a national initiative co-created by the entrepreneurs working in the space that is aimed at inspiring and mentoring the ‘entrepreneurial mindset’ among Singaporeans.

The launch is held in conjunction with the opening of Hub Singapore’s second co-working space at Cuppage Terrace in the heart of Orchard Road.

The Mission Movement is a community platform that makes it easy for people from all walks of life to find and pursue their personal missions. In its first phase, The Mission Movement will act as a research project to determine personal desires and fears of Singaporeans. The end goal is to pursue a courageous mindset needed to foster a larger and more diverse entrepreneurial landscape in Singapore.

The movement will then curate partnerships with organisations or business entities that can cater to these needs through events, workshops, talks, and communities.

Hub Singapore also announced its partnership with IDA Hive – the Infocomm Development Authority’s (IDA) tech facility – to further contribute to Singapore’s vision to build itself into a Smart Nation.

IDA and Hub Singapore will jointly create networking platforms for technologists at Hive and entrepreneurs at Hub Singapore to co-create solutions that address challenges and contribute to Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative. Entrepreneurs can tap into the technical skillsets within Hive while Hive can tap into Hub Singapore’s entrepreneurial acumen.

To encourage more ground-up initiative from citizens and businesses, IDA will provide open data platforms such as data.gov.sg where real-time APIs will be housed to enable Hub Singapore’s startup community to co-create useful applications that are relevant to their businesses.

“This collaboration is timely as we are moving towards the formation of the new Government Technology Agency (GovTech) in October. We see great synergy in what IDA Hive and Hub Singapore is doing to apply innovation and build things that make a difference to people’s lives,” said Jacqueline Poh, Managing Director, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, in a press statement.

“We want to create these collaborative platforms with the startup community to spur new ideas and solutions to some of the national challenges we are tackling as a Smart Nation,” she added.
