Netflix Asia could not have picked a better spot to run its operations
When Netflix’s Asia chapter was first established in Singapore last year, its office only had about five people. A year onwards, its staff count has increased to about 60. The local staff are focussed on the business development and marketing aspects (the product people are mostly based in the US branch).
So that funny commercial about Netflix’s upcoming war film War Machine with the Army Daze (popular 90s Singaporean film about its army conscripts) cast superimposed inside? — well, that idea was lovingly conceived in Netflix Asia’s office, which you will see below.
Netflix Asia’s walls are adorned with what looks like watercolour paintings of its original shows such as Jessica Jones (2nd from the left) and Daredevil (1st from the right).
On this wall, square picture frames of Netflix’s original and syndicated content can be seen. How many shows can you recognise?
On this big screen LED TV, Netflix tracks its social media presence on Twitter.
Binge watching without snacks is borderline criminal. So naturally, Netflix Asia’s pantry is well stocked with an assortment of yummy food like Famous Amos cookies and Pringles crackers.
Some of Netflix Asia’s meeting rooms are named after its original shows. This one is named after the royal family drama The Crown.
Naturally, posters from the show are hung on its walls. You know, I’m beginning to think Netflix could do a side business selling official posters for its shows.
For a company that prides itself in developing cerebral yet visually stunning shows (see: House of Cards and Daredevil), it is no surprise that Netflix Asia has set up shop in one of the more scenic offices in the city — high up in the Marina Bay Financial Centre. Here, the staff can enjoy a bird’s view of the Marina Bay while swirling their blood red wine, discussing diabolical plans to usurp Hollywood, as lightning streaks across the sky (just kidding).
Here we have the work desks. Nothing much to say here.
Here is another meeting where Netflix Asia’s staff conduct teleconferences or watch Netflix shows, presumably.
