With the number of startups growing across the world, the number of co-working spaces is also on the rise. In India alone, more than 30 co-working spaces have cropped up over the past two to three years.
Some of these are operated by real-estate behemoths, while others are run from VC fundings.
Bangalore-based CoLife is a bit different. CoLife is not just a co-working space. Launched early this year, CoLife is a network of shared living and work spaces that operates under the brands CoLive247.com and CoWork247.com, respectively.
CoLife currently operates across 12 different locations in Bangalore, which include a community management office in each location and manned by a dedicated community manager.
The space has been conceptualised on the bedrock of community engagement, in an effort towards building a networking forum for millennials to cooperate, collaborate and communicate seamlessly.
CoLive247.com is a network of shared living spaces. CoLive247 homes are fully furnished, fashionably modern, enhanced with luxury amenities, and are conveniently located near workplaces.
CoLive247 is a concept that aims to revolutionise the way valuable and expensive residential apartment space is divided up in cities to ensure that the space is used in a cost-efficient and optimal manner.
CoLive247 provides all essential utilities and services (like electricity, cable, Wi-Fi, internet, housekeeping, gas, security, etc.) and also provides amenities like home theatre, XBox, cafeteria, foosball, table tennis, swimming pool, and the like. These utilities, services, and amenities are provided at a nominal cost.
CoWork247 is an innovative office rental company that rents trendy spaces to the SME segment that includes professional firms, technology companies and new-age startups looking for offices and flexible co-working spaces.
It is a buzzing venue that brings together a global community of professionals, thinkers, doers and entrepreneurs.
It focuses on providing housing rental solutions for millennials by helping build communities across the city. These communities are based at locations conveniently close to IT parks and universities.
In September this year, CoLife raised US$1 million in funding from eminent investors.
Suresh Rangarajan is the founder and CEO of CoLife. His Eureka moment came when he discovered that there was a huge gap between demand and supply in India. On one end, developers were struggling with excess inventory, and on the other end, millennials were suffering with lack of supply of quality homes. This presented a huge opportunity in trying to bridge this large gap.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, he is an alumnus of the Yale School of Management. One of the early adopters of the internet world, he was part of the founding team of Citi-Times JV TimesOfMoney.com.
He then founded an innovative real estate enterprise called Artha. The company offered unique real estate products to customers in Bangalore and Chennai. The highlights of his stint at Artha includes the path breaking Startup City and Knowledge Park-Emprasa. He founded CoLife in 2016.
