UnaBiz, which operates low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) provider Sigfox in Singapore and Taiwan, today announced that it has raised over US$10 million in Series A funding round with strategic investments from Japanese global telco company KDDI and global energy and services company ENGIE.

KDDI invested in UnaBiz through its SORACOM IoT Fund Program, run by its subsidiary SORACOM Inc, a multi-standard IoT platform that operates in over 120 countries.

The funding round included the participation of Japanese venture capital firm Global Brain through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (KOIF3).

It also included the participation of undisclosed angel investors from Singapore and Taiwanese security management giant Shin Kong Security, a subsidiary of Shin Kong Group.

Having invested in the startup’s seed funding round, ENGIE returned with an investment through ENGIE New Ventures.

“The success of this fund-raising series is the fruition of the tireless efforts of the entire team, and with it UnaBiz will enter a new stage of growth,” UnaBiz CEO and co-founder Henri Bong said in a press statement.

“In only two years, we have deployed two national networks, built an ecosystem of over 200 partners across Asia and brought our IoT solutions to over 25 countries. With our new international partners supporting us not only financially but also operationally, UnaBiz will now play a more prominent role in empowering Massive Internet of Things,” he continued.

The startup will use the funding to support product development of IoT applications, that it described will combine “connectivity, end-to-end solutions, and engineering services.”

It will collaborate with its partners to deliver solutions in key industry verticals such as aerospace, facilities management, food and beverage, logistics, supply chain, and smart cities.

UnaBiz was founded in 2016, with operations in Singapore and Taiwan.

The company provides Sigfox connectivity in both countries and sells IoT solutions from around the world enabled by its network.
