Apart from providing a space to work, the Jakarta Creative Hub will also facilitate trainings, workshops, and conference
The Jakarta city administration through its cooperatives, trade, and small businesses agency today launched a new coworking space to support the city’s growing batch of “young, creative business.”
The Jakarta Creative Hub is located at Gedung Graha Niaga Thamrin in Central Jakarta, a walking distance to the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia city landmark. The 1,500 square meter space will include 12 meeting rooms and classrooms, as well as other facilities to support small businesses from different sectors, from 3D printers, video-making equipment, to sewing machines.
Apart from providing a space to work, the hub will also facilitate trainings, workshops, and conference.
There has been rumours going on among netizens that the facilities will be free for holders of Jakarta citizenship card, but so far the report has not been confirmed.
Instead, the coworking space will be funded through a subsidy from the municipal budget, enabling startups and small businesses to rent a space at an affordable rate.

The Jakarta Creative Hub consultant Leonard Theosubrata told The Jakarta Post that the coworking space is “a place to nurture young entrepreneurs, facilitate people wanting to do research and development, as well as to incubate startup communities.”
According to Theosubrata, who is known as the founder of makerspace Indoestri, the hub will be different from existing coworking space as it encourages founders to “create products first, and network later.”
Prospective users of the space will undergo a selection process first, though no details on the application process are announced yet.
On Tuesday, well-known radio DJ Iwet Ramadhan posted on Twitter a video of a tour inside the space a day before its official launch, which showcased several meeting rooms and decorations in form of hanging batik garments.
