Myanmar’s first-ever tech startup accelerator Phandeeyar Accelerator today announced the launch of cohort 2 at its downtown innovation lab.

Applications for Cohort 2 opened on 8 June 2017, and will close on 31 July 2017. Up to 10 startups will be selected in August 2017. The six-month programme will begin in September 2017 and will culminate with an investor event in March 2018.

Startups which are accepted into Phandeeyar receive US$25,000 in seed investment, six months of coaching from over 40 local and international mentors, as well as access to a network of investors. ● Telenor Myanmar – A fast track to access go-to-market services from Myanmar’s leading international mobile operator

● FB Start – Up to $80,000 worth of benefits from Facebook’s program for early stage mobile companies
● Amazon AWS – Up to $15,000 worth of web hosting of credits and support
● Microsoft BizSpark – Up to $27,000 worth of Azure cloud services
● Today Ogilvy – $15,000 worth of public relations, digital marketing, and branding services
● PwC Myanmar – Comprehensive financial management training
JobNet – Up to $10,000 worth of recruitment services and HR training from Myanmar’s leading digital recruitment platform
● Edulink – Six months of English language training from one of Myanmar’s top English language schools

Phandeeyar Founder and CEO David Madden said: “Myanmar is now connected. Tens of millions of people are already using smartphones and data. “We know from all our other work that there are many more promising early-stage tech startups in Myanmar. We also know that it’s hard to build a company by yourself. Phandeeyar Accelerator Cohort 2 is a great opportunity for the best Myanmar startups to get the money and support that they need,” said Phandeeyar Accelerator Director Jes Kaliebe Petersen.

Four startups graduated from the first batch, namely Chate Sat, White MerakEzStay, and GoP.

Launched in 2016, Phandeeyar Accelerator is a project of Phandeeyar Myanmar Innovation lab, which helps civic and social entrepreneurs and independent media use technology to increase their impact and runs a co-working space out of its 6,000 square foot space located in the heart of downtown Yangon.
