Together, they will spearhead the Together for Women’s Day, a Thailand-based gender equality fair that will be held on 11 March 2017

Thailand-based women e-commerce portal Orami, online classifieds Kaidee, and ride- hailing giant Grab have teamed up to promote gender equality by launching a Bangkok-based event called Together For Women’s Day.

It will be held at Bangkok Bangkok’s Art and Cultural Center (BACC) on 11 March 2017, from 2 pm to 8 pm.

The one-day event will feature a mix of entertainment, education, artistic performances, workshops, activities. Notable Thailand public figures such as Metinee Kingpayome, Theetawit Setthachai, Pimpaka Siangsomboon, Natalie Glebova, Amita Marie Young, Shannon Kalayanamitr will also be participating.

Together for Women’s Day is meant to coincide with the same week as International Women’s Day (8 March 2017). It is also designed to support the HeForShe Arts Week Bangkok, which is part of a UN Women solidarity campaign that encourages men and boys to fight discrimination against women, girls and LGBTQ.

Global tech corporations including Tencent, Google, Agoda, Honest Bee, Proflex, Fabbrigade and Go Wabi will be participating in the event. It will also see the participation of goodwill organisations for women and health protection such as Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer Foundation and Pratthanadee Foundation.

“We are witnessing a momentum that represents a unique opportunity to position gender equality at the heart of the global agenda”, says Alejandro Hita, HeForShe Regional Campaign Coordinator Coordinator, said in a press statement.

“With this wave of support from people, popular influencers, public and private organizations, the HeForShe movement will continue to engage with everybody, as equal partners, to become agents of change towards the achievement of gender equality,” said Hita.

Grab will be holding a workshop called “Self-improvement for greater gender equality”. There will also be other workshops including “Work/Life Balance” by Global Shapers, “Communicating With Confidence” by Connecting Founders, “Healthy Eating” by nutritional counselor Olga Vita, and “Childbirth Education” with the doula Rasee Govindani.

Art programmes will include performances of dance & theater by B-Floor, spoken poetry by Bedroom Poet and Neil Gaiman’s Blueberry Girl by Anna Manuel of Heads and Tales Storytelling.
