Fourteen teams presented their business ideas at this year’s Startup Weekend Jakarta

Startup Weekend Jakarta concluded on Sunday, April 7, with the crowning of three startups as winners and one as People’s Choice winners.

The startups are:

1st winner – Votogenic
A platform that aims to connect customers to photographers of various level of skills and prices.

The startup won IDR10 million (US$705,000) cash prize from the event.

2nd winner – Gerobak Sayur
The startup aims to reduce food loss at supermarket chains by redistributing fresh produces to traditional, mobile sellers (“tukang sayur“).

It won IDR5 million (US$352,000) cash prize.

3rd winner – ASA
A platform that aims to connect its users to psychologist, as part of its goal in promoting mental health awareness.

The startup won IDR2.5 million (US$176,000) cash prize.

People’s Choice – Wacana
Dubbing itself as “Tinder for professionals”, the platform connects individuals of similar interests for self-development opportunities. It utilises personality tests

In addition to the cash prizes, the three winning startups also won membership benefits from the Greenhouse Coworking and Office Space at South Jakarta’s Multivision Tower, where the event was held. The membership benefits include access to networking and various services to support their business, from accounting to videography.

The winners were being chosen by a panel of judges that consist of Aditya Kumar (VP Investments at Go-Ventures), Ken Ratri Iswari (Founder & CEO at Geekhunter), Vanessa Tanuwijaya (Partner at Prepare Labs), Aldi Hartanto (Head of Investments at MDI Ventures), and Daniel Lin (Co-Founder at FundedHere).

They were being judged based on the following criteria: Validation, Execution and Design, as well as Business Model.

Starting on April 5, Startup Weekend Jakarta is a 54-hours weekend event where groups of like-minded participants from different backgrounds can pitch ideas for new startup companies, form teams around these ideas, and collaborate to develop working prototypes, demos, or presentations.

It gave the startups opportunities to receive mentorships from the likes of Anthony Reza (Co-Founder at Get Kraft), Aditya Kumar (Vice President of Corporate Development at Go-Jek), Elisa Suteja (Deputy CEO at FORE Coffee), and Diajeng Lestari (CEO at Hijup).

According to Victor Kyosev, General Manager at Greenhouse Coworking and Office Space, two startups who had participated in the previous Startup Weekend Jakarta programme in November 2018 had raised pre-seed investments.
