The workshop is designed to facilitate a self-discovery process

Singapore’s Platform E has launched a new workshop targetted at mid-career professionals looking to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Students who are mapping out their career path are also eligible to participate.

Called Discovery Workshop, a collaboration between the entrepreneurship platform and My Working Title, a career design company, it aims to “a facilitate a self-discovery process” that will help participants learn, create and act on their future career goals.

“Careers today are a permanent beta. Through the workshop and personal coaching sessions, we are creating a space for professionals to pause and emerge with a strategy that they can quickly prototype. We encourage people not to over plan, but test out their working titles.” said Jael Chng, founder of My Working Title, in an official press statement.

The workshop will be spread over three sessions. Participants will use tools developed by fields of psychology (Choice Theory by Dr William Glasser), design thinking (d-School from Stanford University) and entrepreneurship (‘Start up of you by Reid Hoffman, Chairman and Co-Founder of LinkedIn), to create their career plans.

They will also be given one-hour personalised career coaching sessions to refine these plans and identify potential roadblocks.

By the end of the workshop, the participants should be able to identify the potential entrepreneurship opportunities they can venture into, and the steps required to act on them quickly.

“For those contemplating entrepreneurship as a life option, the Discovery Workshop provides the right framework prior to enrolling in Platform E’s IntensE programme,” says Alan Wong, CEO of Platform E.

IntenseE is one of two Platform E’s entrepreneurship tracks; it offers the full experience entrepreneurship journey. The second track, IncubatE, is a modular track to suit specific needs, and is designed for aspiring and mid-journey entrepreneurs respectively.

Platform E is powered by the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and is housed in 25,000 sq ft co-working space at SIM Management House on Namly Avenue.
