According to CEO and Co-Founder Steven Kim, the company does not see a major lay-off as “something extra-ordinary”

Rumours have spread around the Indonesian tech startup community that several companies are laying off employees. In some cases, the numbers are reported to reach “hundreds,” leading the public to wonder what to make of these trends.
F&B directory and booking platform Qraved was one of the companies mentioned in these rumours, and today Qraved CEO and Co-Founder Steven Kim finally speaks up.
“We aren’t planning any major layoffs,” he wrote to e27 in an e-mail.
“I wouldn’t think of it as anything extraordinary, as we constantly evolve the organisation. We are still hiring,” he added.

Kim also explained that unlike e-commerce companies, which require a big number of customer service and logistics staff to run their operations, Qraved’s business operation does not require it to have “massive numbers of people” behind. He stated that the team chose to stay focused on their objectives, and staying lean in achieving them.
When asked about the company’s next move, Kim hinted that Qraved is planning to add some new features to their offering.
“We are making some major product upgrades and looking forward to providing a substantially better experience with our apps in the coming months. Also we will be providing more ways more merchants can leverage the audience we have,” he closed.
In October 2015, Qraved raised a US$8 million Series B round co-led by Richmond Global Ventures and Gobi Partners, followed by GWC, Convergence Ventures, 500 Startups, Toivo Annus and M&Y Partners. The round was announced during Indonesian government delegation’s visit to Silicon Valley to meet tech giants and major VC firms.
