Singapore-based restaurant booking and deals platform Chope announced the appointment of Sean Tan as its new COO.
Prior to joining Chope, Tan was the Chief Business Development Officer and Singapore General Manager of property tech giant iProperty. He has over 16 years of experience in directing “growth-oriented” digital businesses.
He will be in charge of operations, strategy, and cross-functional initiatives across the company’s offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Phuket, Shanghai, Beijing, Bali, and Jakarta.
Following Tan’s appointment, previous COO Dinesh Balasingam will move on to become the company’s Regional Business Unit Head.
In a press statement, Chope CEO Arrif Ziaudeen named Tan’s appointment as a “key step” in the company’s expansion plan.

Going into 2019, the company plans to expand “beyond a booking engine” by creating an “excellent, all-rounded dining experiences for more people, more often.”
“Partners and diners can expect to see significant changes to the look and feel of Chope’s collateral in the near future, with longer-term plans to align the user experience and interface within the products themselves,” the company said.
In its operations in Indonesia, it claimed to have tripled reservations year-on-year over the past year alone.
Chope also aimed to multiply the number of restaurants and users in its markets.
Founded in 2011, the company said it has managed over 35 million restaurant bookings.
