Iman Usman is now in charge as Chief Product Officer, while Adamas Belva Syah Devara is now CEO
Indonesian end-to-end online education platform Ruangguru announced that it has appointed Iman Usman as Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Adamas Belva Syah Devara as CEO of the company.
Both are noted as the co-founders as the company itself. Usman was previously the CEO of Ruangguru, and he will be in charge of products, strategic partnerships (particularly with government), and communications in his new designation.
As for Devara, the recent completion of his postgraduate study at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Harvard Kennedy School had allowed him to finally take more strategic positions in the company, though a Ruangguru spokesperson stated that he has always been actively involved in decision-making processes.
“The change … is due to Ruangguru’s big mission for the year, which is to secure one million users through its products. Iman will focus on product development, as soon we will also release some new products. Belva will focus more on the business development side. His credibility in the business sector is also the reason behind this appointment,” the spokesperson explained.

Apart from the new appointment, the startup also announced new features and web design. Not only that it has finally released its mobile app for iOS devices, it also introduces a single account system to access all of the company’s services from searching and booking a private tutor, working on practice tests, to conducting on-demand online tutoring via the app.
“We want to build a whole ecosystem of education, that offers quality teaching and content, and that allows for seamless communication among parents, teachers, and students,” explained Devara in a press statement.
In December 2015, Ruangguru closed an undisclosed Series A funding round led by Venturra Capital. It was also one of the Indonesian startups selected to participate in the second batch of Google Launchpad Accelerator.
