Singapore blockchain startup Bluzelle has been selected by the World Economic Forum as one of the 30 “technology pioneers” for 2017.

The World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneers community are early-stage companies that are developing innovative solutions which can significantly impact business and society.

Past recipients include some of the industry’s biggest tech giants such as Airbnb, Google, Kickstarter, Mozilla, Palantir Technologies, Scribd, Spotify, Twitter and Wikimedia.

This year’s selection comprise of companies working on AI, AR, autonomous vehicles, biotechnology, blockchain, cybersecurity, the (industrial) IoT, and other pioneering technologies.

Following the selection, Bluzelle will be participating in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champion held in Dalian. It will also be attending the Annual Meeting in Davos held in January 2018, and continue to participate in dedicated Technology Pioneer community events for the next two years.

“To be recognised by the World Economic Forum as a pioneer is a great honour”, said co-founder of Bluezelle, Pavel Bains.

“When we started Bluzelle, Neeraj Murarka [the other co-founder] and I had a mission to build a company that can make a big social impact. This award is an affirmation of our hard work and it will help us get to that next level as more people will see what we can provide to make a change.”

Launched in 2015, Bluzelle offers real-time payments solutions for financial institutions, smart contracts for insurances, and KYC shared ledger solutions — all powered by blockchain.

These solutions make financial transactions and record keeping more secure and incur less operational costs. Bluzelle is recognised by the Canadian government as a Money Service Business (MSB). Last year, the company partnered with the KPMG Digital Village to extend its blockchain solutions to insurance and medical firms.
