This app will also allow motorists to extend their parking sessions remotely
Singapore motorists may no longer need to hoard parking coupon booklets in the glove compartments of their vehicles. Today, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Housing & Development Board (HDB), in partnership with the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech), have announced they will jointly develop a parking coupon mobile app.

To pay for a parking spot, motorists have to key in their vehicle license plate number, select the car park, then indicate their parking duration.
Parking charges will be calculated automatically on a per minute basis. Motorists can choose to end their parking duration or end it early (the unused amount will be refunded to them).

There have been other innovations in Singapore’s car parking space (no pun intended) in the past few months. Spotizen, an app that locates free parking spots, released a Facebook Messenger chat bot to help motorists find parking spots within three queries. Another app, SurePark, provides a similar service to motorists (albeit, without a chat bot).
