Singapore-based startup Bow and Tiara has officially launched its web-based wedding discovery platform today. The platform curates high-quality content wedding images and videos and sorts them using a content-ranking algorithm (upvotes, saves, shares).

The startup was founded early this year by CEO Roy Ang (ex-manager of e27) and his wife Tan Kai Hui while they were preparing for their own wedding. After scouring various social media platforms and wedding publications for wedding-related content and professionals, they felt the market needed a more efficient, all-in-one solution.

“We want to create an open, all-encompassing global wedding community where both wedding professionals and couples can contribute useful content and build resources that help other couples discover ideas and evaluate products and services,” Ang said in an official press statement.

Ang counts Singapore-based wedding vendor marketplace Bridestory as its main competitor. However, he emphasised to e27 that while Bridestory works well for countries with lower Internet bandwidth, Bow and Tiara’s solutions aim at folks who can stream high-end photos and videos.

Bow and Tiara has raised funding from several undisclosed angel investors, and is gearing up for a seed round. The new injection of funds will be used for platform upgrades to better serve couples.

Ang said his developers are already building more product modules such as a self-publishing tool and a commerce module for merchants. An app is also in the works.

Bow and Tiara has already onboarded over 100 wedding professionals, including Luna Bianca Bridal Boutique, and features over 1,000 wedding-related images.

“We like how Bow and Tiara focusses a lot on image quality which improves the browsing experience, as well as the algorithm pushes the best content to the top,” said Steven Tong, owner of Luna Bianca Bridal Boutique.

Ang said Singapore will be Bow and Tiara’s only market focus for now, but there are plans to expand regionally.
