Over the years, the Singapore-based telco has launched various initiatives to support the growth of digital tech and startups

Singapore-based telecom conglomerate Singtel has launched its FutureNow Innovation Centre (FIC) to help more companies make the transition to the digital realm.

The FIC will showcase technologies such as cloud, software-defined networks, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and various 5G possibilities; Singtel will work with its ecosystem partners to help enterprises leverage these technologies to transform their businesses.

These ecosystem partners include the National University of Singapore (NUS), which Singtel partnered with earlier this year to launch a cybersecurity hub. Last year, Singtel also joined hands with the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) to build a S$42.2 million (US$31.3 million) AI lab.

Participating companies will also be able to tap into Singtel’s mobile consumer database — 650 million in total — spanning across Australia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, as well as its enterprise customers.

“We have brought together a number of industry subject matter experts who are
contributing to the various industries’ transformation,” said Bill Chang, CEO of Group Enterprise at Singtel, in a press statement.

“Together with the advanced technologies through our various research and development labs, product development and extensive partnership eco-systems, we are bringing innovative and impactful services and solutions to help accelerate enterprises in their digitalisation journeys.”

The FIC is designed to align with the Singapore government’s US$4.5 billion Industry Transformation Map (ITM), which it announced in 2016. The ITM targets 23 key industries, such as real estate, retail and aerospace. The industries are grouped into these six clusters: Manufacturing; Built Environment; Trade & Connectivity; Essential Domestic Services; Professional Services; and Lifestyle.

In addition to servicing these six clusters, the FIC will also showcase smart home solutions including voice-controlled home systems and other consumer-focused IoT technology.
