Skillenza, a Bangalore-based startup providing a one-stop platform for skills-based hiring, networking, peer learning, community building and social connections, has bagged the Judges’ Choice award at the TOP100 India Qualifiers, organised by e27 in the city on Thursday.

eventValue, a smart app that helps people discover professional events, network with attendees and access content from various events, clinched the Fan Favourite.

According to the judges, who chose the winner from 16 startups pitched at the LetsVenture office today, Skillenza is operating in a broken space and solving a genuine problem.

“Skillenza is not solving just for the tech people, but also for the business people. Skill-based hiring is what is required in India rather than hire based on other parameters. If you look at other HR-tech companies, they are not doing skills-based hiring, but are giving you a shortlist based on some other parameters. On the other hand, Skillenza offers a two-way platform — they are not only getting businesses as their clients, but also have consumers as the other participant,” said Ibrahim Faruqi (Investment Professional at Orios Venture Partners), a member of the judging panel.

Skillenza will represent India at Echelon Asia Summit 2018, to be held in Singapore on June 28-29. Additionally, the startup will receive a prize of SGD3,000, an exhibition space and pitching slot in Echelon Asia, and six months’ hot desk pass at any WeWork space of their choice within Southeast Asia, in addition to SGD500 reimbursements.

The Bangalore startup also stands a chance to receive SGD50,000 grant from Startup SG by competing with other startups pitching at the summit, and will get fast-tracked through the SLINGSHOT@SWITCH competition.

The ultimate winner of the Echelon Asia Fight Club Finals will get a ticket to WIT Startup Bootcamp, to be held on October 15, 2018. One of the team members will also be provided with flights and accommodation to attend the WIT Conference, to be held on October 16-17,2018 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
