Yesterday, Antler announces plan to launch a program by the first half of next year and to showcase its startup generator & VC model to Indonesia 

Antler, a worldwide startup generator, commences operation in Indonesia with the opening of its branch in Jakarta, the capital city.

In its official statement, Antler said it plans to contribute to the country’s startup ecosystem by providing its platform, supporting funding, and giving access to Antler’s ecosystem.

Jussi Salovaara, co-founder of Antler and Managing Partner, Asia: “We see a lot of individuals in Indonesia that want to be entrepreneurs. Opening Antler in Indonesia allows us to give the aspiring entrepreneurs and founders to have a support system in creating successful startups for Indonesia. There are tons of potentials in Indonesia that still lacks a reliable platform and ecosystem for early-stage startups. We look forward to bridging that gap.”

With the opening in Jakarta, Antler reiterates its vision, which is to invest and to help set up at least 20 startups in Indonesia every year. Antler plans to be a support in forming the right team, providing early-stage funding, and facilitating founders with access to global business advisors that the generator has.

According to a report from Google Temasek, Indonesia’s digital economy is to achieve US$100 million in 2025.

Antler will launch its local program in Jakarta in the first half of next year.

Antler Jakarta will be a part of Antler Southeast Asia, whose members are the likes of Chief Investment Officer Stefan Jung.

Jung has been a seasoned Indonesia-based investment manager with portfolios such as Managing Partner of Venturra Capital, an Indonesia-based VC, leading early investments into Grab, Traveloka, Zilingo, and Carro. Stefan was also one of the co-founders of Zalora, Lazada, and Happy Fresh.

Besides Jung, Antler also brings business coaches and local mentors for Indonesia, such as Martin Hartono, CEO of GDP Venture; Noni Purnomo, President Director of PT Blue Bird Tbk; and Florian Holm, ex co-CEO of Lazada Indonesia.

Kicking off its first program, Antler also noted that before landing in Jakarta, it has collected several Indonesian startups under its wings, such as:

• Sampingan, a startup that seeks to facilitate Indonesian people with side jobs such as sales, data collections, distribution, and logistics. Sampingan also has received early-stage funding from Golden Gate Ventures.
• Base, a skincare-focussed beauty and wellness startup that offers personalised skincare according to each skin type. Its platform is digitalised with direct to consumer business model using all-natural ingredients.
• Robin, an application that can automatically do a reference check and working experience verification for each applicant while also provide the company with qualitative information of the applicants from previous employers.
• Bubays, a baby food startup that provides delivery to young families and makes sure each meal is made of fresh, nutritious, and delicious ingredients based on baby’s age and baby’s allergy information. It also provides growth tracking for each baby.

Antler was founded in Singapore in 2017 and currently has eight locations in Singapore, London, New York, Sydney, Stockholm, Oslo, Nairobi, and Amsterdam.
