Applications are already open
Global industry-focussed startup accelerator Startupbootcamp have announced the launch of its Startupbootcamp FinTech programme in Mumbai.
Startupbootcamp FinTech was launched in 2014, and it is currently operating in three other cities — New York, London and Singapore.
Applications are already open for the Indian chapter of the three-month programme, which will run from early 2017. It is open to fintech startups globally and up to 10 will be selected. Successful applicants will each receive a €15,000 (US$19,500) grant and office space for at least three months.
Leading Indian bank, ICICI Bank, will mentor the participating startups and help them hone their business plans and products. The bank will also have an equity stake in the companies.
Other major financial solution providers including RBL Bank, AZB & Partners and PwC will also back the programme.

Alok Vajpeyi, a veteran in the financial services industry with 30 years of experience under his belt — and currently an external advisor to the UK-India trade and investment (UKTI) in fintech — will chair the programme.

We are delighted to partner with Startupbootcamp and see the fascinating ideas that come from the young Indian’s and play a role in their journey,” said Abonty Banerjee, Senior General Manager & Head- Digital Channels, ICICI Bank, in an official press statement.
Additionally, the programme will also focus on InsurTech, a vertical that is experiencing greater innovation recently due to the rise in aggregation and comparison engines.
To kick off, startups from all over the world are invited to apply to present their ideas to the Startupbootcamp FinTech team at a series of Fast Track days within India in Mumbai, Bangalore, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, as well as in Dubai, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Startupbootcamp was founded in 2010 and operates 14 programmes in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Istanbul, London, Miami and Singapore, and a mentor and alumni network in more than 30 countries. To date, more than 300 startups have been accelerated by Startupbootcamp globally which have raised over €100 million (US$130.2 million) in investment.
