SWITCH 2018

This year, the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology (SWITCH) focuses on deep tech and the intersection of tech and lifestyle. True to the tagline of “Today’s Inventions, Tomorrow’s World”, the activities and conferences zoom in on how today’s technologies can help build a better future.

We’ve previously given you the low-down of what’s happening at the various stages of SWITCH. Now, we’re telling you how each partner event packs and punch and why you shouldn’t miss them.

 

Asia Early Stage Investment Summit

If you’re an angel investor, planning to be one, or simply curious as to how angel investing works, then you should head on BANSEA’s Asia Early Stage Investment Summit.

From keynote presentations on how angel investors impact the world to panel discussions about how to not fail at angel investing, the summit covers everything you need to know about angel investing especially in the context of Southeast Asia.

The summit also includes a discussion on impact investing, ICOs, and the potential of China and South Asia for angel investors, all featuring industry leaders and some of the region’s top investors, like Harbourfront Ventures’ Managing Director Shoko Suzuki and Singtel Group Sustainability Director, Chia Boon Chong.

If you’re curious about deep tech and where it’s leading to, then drop by the Deep Tech Summit.

The inaugural Deep Tech Summit convenes thought leaders and industry practitioners specialising in transformative technologies. We’re talking about artificial intelligence, blockchain, medtech, venture building, the future of talent and more.

With panel discussions on medtech innovation and how frontier technologies would impact our society, the summit explores the role of transformative technology in human lives and what it means for our future.

Organised by SGInnovate, the summit features speakers from various universities, research institutes, leading enterprises, and innovative startups from around the region, like Prof. Tsuhan Chen, the Chief Scientist of AI SIngapore, and Dr. Carolyn Hargrove, the CTO of McLaren Applied Technologies.

DEMO Asia Summit

Over 100 startup pitches will happen over three days in this Startup SG-organised competition. Top international startups will battle it out on stage as they showcase their technology and business ideas to the judges and audience consisting of investors, corporates, media, and potential partners and clients.

Apart from the main pitch competition, SLINGSHOT@SWITCH also features startup pitches from its partner competitions: CREATE@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest features startups pitching for a chance to compete at the CASC finals in Shanghai; while L’Oreal Innovation Runway is a startup challenge in search for unique solutions in performance materials and products, personalised beauty experiences, and sustainable innovations.

Back for its seventh run, TechInnovation by IPI Singapore aims to bring together technology providers and seekers to explore technology and business collaboration through open innovation.
