Merten Wulfert, Deliveroo’s Director of International Expansion, will lead Singapore operations in the interim
Tristan Torres Velat, the man who lead the charge of bringing Deliveroo to Singapore, has left the company to pursue other projects, the company has confirmed to e27.
“He made a valuable contribution in our expansion to Singapore, rolling out the service across the entire island in less than a year,” read a statement to e27 from Deliveroo.
“We wish him the very best in his new endeavours,” it continued.
e27 has reached out to Velat about his future plans and will update accordingly.

Merten Wulfert, currently the Director of International Expansion, has been appointed as the interim general manager of Singapore.
“His focus will be continuing to grow and refine our service in this exciting market,” read the Deliveroo statement.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Wulfert has been with Deliveroo for just over one-and-a-half years and is based in London. His job is to bring the food delivery company to markets all over the world.
Deliveroo is actually fairly new to Singapore, its one-year anniversary is this coming November. Since then, it has grown to a fleet of 1,300 drivers, about 100 bicyclists and 2,000 restaurants use the platform.
In a conversation with e27 last month, Velat spoke about plans to open centralised kitchens in Singapore in the coming months. The idea is to speed up the delivery process by leveraging kitchens with no in-house customers.

Deliveroo is in direct competition with foodpanda — which closed its operations in Indonesia this week — and UberEATS, which leverages the Uber driver network for delivery.
In August, the company raised US$275 million in fresh funding.
