Coworking space JustCo to launch in Indonesia – DailySocial

Singapore-based coworking space chain JustCo announced its entry to Indonesia with three locations in Jakarta, DailySocial reported.

To support its expansion to Indonesia, JustCo signed a joint venture with local conglomerate Gunung Sewu Group.

JustCo’s first three locations will be at The Plaza, AIA Central, and Sequis Tower. These three locations will be opened between August to October this year. The company is also planning to launch its coworking spaces in other cities outside of Jakarta.

The launch is part of the company’s regional expansion plan following a recently announced Series B funding round and partnership with GIC and Frasers Property.

Uber, ComfortDelGro dissolve US$220M deal – Dealstreet Asia

Ride-hailing giant Uber and Singapore-based taxi operator ComfortDelGro have agreed to dissolve a deal that involved ComfortDelGro buying 51 per cent of Uber’s car rental unit, Dealstreet Asia reported.

Following Uber’s recent acquisition by competitor Grab, there has been uncertainty regarding the status of the deal.

According to ComfortDelGro Managing Director and Group CEO Yang Ban Seng, the move was made due to the change in operating environment following Uber’s exit from the market, which made the partnership “no longer relevant.”

Other reports by Straits Times said that Grab plans to reach out to the taxi operator for a possible partnership while TechCrunch said that the company is already in talks with Go-Jek, which is set to enter Singapore this year.

Grab launches food delivery service GrabFood in Singapore – e27

Southeast Asian ride-hailing giant Grab today announced the launch of the beta version of its on-demand food delivery service GrabFood in Singapore, e27 reported.

Following its recent merger with ride-hailing giant Uber, the company also unveiled its vision to become “an everyday app” that integrates the functions of transportation, F&B, courier, and payments in just one app.

The GrabFood service will be available in six Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines by  Q2 2018.

Chinese e-commerce firm JollyChic raises Series C funding round – Dealstreet Asia

Chinese e-commerce platform JollyChic has raised “hundreds of million” in Series C funding round led by Sequoia Capital with participation of existing investor Legend Capital, Dealstreet Asia reported.

According to a statement by Legend Capital on WeChat, the funding round has given the startup a unicorn status.

Founded in 2012, Hangzhou-based JollyChic has offices across in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Silicon Valley, Saudia Arabia, Dubai, UAE and Jordan. With the Middle East market as its focus, the company acquired Jordanese e-commerce player MarkaVIP for an undisclosed sum in 2017.
