CTO of Indonesian traveling and ticket booking platform Traveloka has resigned, as announced in the company’s official statement yesterday, November 27, 2018. Derianto Kusuma was one of the unicorn’s founders in 2012.
Traveloka has emerged as one of the unicorns in Indonesia’s startup scene with more than US$1 billion in valuation.
As reported by CNBC Indonesia, Traveloka’s CEO and co-founder Ferry Unardi also released his official statement. “Deri’s role in Traveloka’s growth and success is indispensable. Deri built and enlarged our company’s system and created not only a sustainable technology capability but also organization capability,” said Unardi.

Kusuma didn’t disclose the reason behind his decision and only shared that he will still be involved in the country’s startup ecosystem only not in the field that is competing with his former company.
“My journey with Traveloka was amazing, from the start to the implementation process in Southeast Asia that we had, where we offered our customers and partners a new standard in quality and accountability within our entire operation to the way we addressed challenges in every stage of growth. I’m happy to be a part of it all,” said Kusuma.

Furthermore, Kusuma noted, Traveloka is in the middle of a transition stage and his work in the company is done with the strong team the company is now left with. He also mentioned the recent funding the company had makes the company stronger than ever.
“It’s time for me to move on,” said Kusuma.
