The final round of Tech In Asia Jakarta 2018 ARENA Pitch Battle includes six startups working in the e-commerce, fintech, and healthtech sectors

Uiza, a Vietnam-based video and livestream cloud API platform, has been crowned as the winner of Tech In Asia Jakarta 2018 ARENA Pitch Battle today in Central Jakarta.

Selected out of six finalists, the startup won a cash prize of IDR50 million (US$3,300).

Founded in February by Gareth Nguyen, Uiza is a startup that helps businesses add a video feature on their apps. The company also utilises artificial intelligence to optimise viewing experience.

Having recently raised a pre-seed funding round, the company named LINE, Topica, and Framgia as its users.

In addition to Uiza, the competition also named Datanest and Danabijak as runner-up and third prize winners.

Datanest is a “data-science-as-a-service” platform with a current focus on finance and retail industry. Based in Indonesia, the company was founded in 2017 and is currently in the process of launching their business.

Danabijak is an Indonesia-based fintech startup that helps underbanked communities in Java, Sumatra, and Borneo get loans without the need of having credit history.

ARENA Pitch Battle is a startup competition that is part of the annual Tech In Asia Jakarta conference, held in October 23-24 by Southeast Asian tech news platform of the same name.

The competition includes finalists coming in from Asian countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea, and Taiwan.

The companies are working in various sectors from e-commerce, fintech, to healthcare.

The healthcare sector was represented by Medi Whale, a South Korean startup building an AI solution to detect eye and cardiovascular diseases.

The startup claimed to be able to help patients save healthcare costs in the long run by enabling healthcare professionals to diagnose cardiovascular conditions based on patients’ eye.

Fintech sector, particularly peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, is a dominant theme in the competition.

In addition to third-prize winner Danabijak, the competition also named Bizhare as finalist. The startup helps small- and medium-sized businesses secure funding to run a franchise business.
