The mobile wallet service VTC Pay currently dominates the market in Vietnam, attracting mobile commerce enabler DOCOMO to join forces

Vietnam’s mobile wallet and a payment gateway provider VTC Pay has announced a partnership with DOCOMO Digital to scale the mobile commerce ecosystem in the country.

DOCOMO Digital’s platform connects international merchants and payment providers with a single API framework. This partnership will offer DOCOMO Digital’s international merchants partners to VTC’s users in Vietnam.

VTC Pay claim that its e-wallet is used by more than three million consumers, a majority in the 18-34 years demographic, with more than a million transactions recorded daily.

“VTC Pay’s focus would be advancing to bring security and optimisation of payment speed to users,” said Tran Quang Viet, Director of VTC Pay Electronic Payment Center.

Vietnam has been rapidly digitising and is slated to grow at 6.7 per cent.

“VTC partnership is a great manifestation of our vision to integrate with digital or mobile wallets, especially in emerging markets. With this partnership, we can support international merchants looking to expand in Vietnam with the most preferred mode of payment, especially among the young population, the largest segment of consumers for digital content,” said Dheeraj Soni, President of DOCOMO Digital’s Payments Business.
