The gig economy is thriving and freelancers are driving its success, ChateSat seeks to steer freelancers and businesses toward each other

Just yesterday, the e27 TOP100 competition touched down at Yangon and the results are in! This year, Myanmar has produced five up-and-coming startups to represent the nation at e27’s Echelon Asia Summit.

Leading the pack is Judges’ Choice awardee ChateSat, who has managed to score the following:

  • A free exhibition booth space in the TOP100 Zone at Echelon.
  • A pitching slot on the TOP100 stage on day one of Echelon.
  • Intimate investor meetings and inclusion to Corporate business matching.
  • Five starter tickets to Echelon Asia Summit.
  • Access to the TOP100 Tour in Singapore.

Now, here’s more on ChateSat:

Like most successful startups, ChateSat was born out of a problem — and it was dual-pronged. Businesses found it hard sourcing the right people for urgent projects and often employed permanent staff unnecessarily. Freelancers, on the other hand, couldn’t secure regular pay and projects, finding themselves overpaying the middleman time and again.

So, founders Honey Mya Win and Shwee Yee Mya Win — who are both in 2018’s Forbes 30 under 30 — jumped on the opportunity to rectify this by connecting freelancers with businesses in a resourceful, efficient and affordable way.

Simplistic yet comprehensive, all business owners have to do is register with ChateSat, post a project, choose a freelancer and make payment. And as if that wasn’t easy enough, freelancers need only sign up and pick a project. The platform already boasts a slew of professional freelancers in sought-after categories like translation, development, writing, research and marketing.

ChateSat is also based on a freemium business model that supports various organisations from startups to large corporations. Some of its valued clients include Grab, Huawei and Sharp. What keeps the product sticky is the fact that it is more than just a marketplace. Its rating system, skill tests and endorsement badges help solidify and elevate many freelancing careers.

The company raised a six-digit sum in October, 2018 to support this vision.

Locally, ChateSat has also been recognised as a promising startup, clinching first place in both #accelerateMM demo day and Techsauce x Mekong Startup Ecosystem Summit 2.0. In the future, it plans to form partnerships with educational institutes and host workshops and project fairs.

We look forward to seeing ChateSat’s next move as it continues to design limitless collaborations between businesses and talents. Congratulations again!

The other four qualifiers will also have a chance to enjoy the above rewards should they take up the discounted offer for booth space at Echelon. There, they will also have a shot at competing with other qualifiers for the grand S$50,000 Startup SG grant prize.

Here are the four:

  • Flexible Pass
  • New Day (Neh Thit) Jobs
  • Klenic
  • Recyglo Pte Ltd

All the best to these companies! Stay tuned for more Echelon news.
